PROPECIA
Finasteride (marketed as Proscar®, Propecia®, Fincar®, Finpecia®) is an antiandrogen which acts by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. It is used in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in low doses, and in prostate cancer in higher doses. Additionally, it is registered in many countries for male-pattern baldness.
Take one tablet by mouth once each day. You may take Propecia with or without food. Propecia can be used as a treatment for male pattern baldness. It focuses on hair loss on the top of the head and in the mid-scalp area of the back of the head. Propecia is FDA approved  You can expect an improvement within a year of beginning Propecia treatment. This medication works in the regions of the head where hair is thinning or balding. The medication may also help slow the speed of existing hair loss. You will not get back all the hair that you have lost. Propecia generally doesnít work on the sides of the head or in the front hairline. Wait patiently for results from Propecia. Your hair loss occurred slowly, and new hair will grow slowly. It grows an average of half an inch per month. Expect to take Propecia for at least three months before seeing any improvement. Once you see changes, you must continue taking Propecia for the changes to continue. Stop taking Propecia if you have not experienced any improvement after twelve months of continual therapy. Women cannot take Propecia. It is not effective in treating androgenetic alopecia experienced by postmenopausal women. Keep all prescriptions away from children. If you miss a schedule Propecia dose, do not try to make it up. Simply skip that dose and resume your usual schedule. It should be kept in a place free of moisture and sunlight, and at room temperature. No drug interactions of clinical importance have been identified. Finasteride does not appear to affect the cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system. Compounds that have been tested in man include antipyrine, digoxin, propranolol, theophylline, and warfarin and no clinically meaningful interactions were found.
