YASMIN
Taking Yasmin will help prevent pregnancy. The medication is a combination of progestin and estrogen. Itís also used to regulate menstrual cycles and to relieve symptoms of menopause.
When prescribing Yasmin, your doctor will give you instructions that you should be careful to follow. Always read the included patient information and ask clarifying questions if you donít understand. Donít go more than 24 hours without taking a dose, and you should try to take it at the same time each day. Keep Yasmin out of sunlight and away from moisture. If while taking Yasmin you forget to take a dose, take the medication as soon as you remember. Your next dose should then be taken at its regularly scheduled time. You can take more than one pill in a day using this plan. If you forgot more than one dose, refer to the informational sheets you received from your doctor or pharmacist. Smoking cigarettes while using Yasmin can raise your chances of experiencing a heart attack, blood clots, high blood pressure, stroke, or other diseases of the heart and blood vessels. All birth control pills are less effective when used at the same time as certain anticonvulsants and antibiotics. You should use an alternate form of birth control until your next period of you must take either of these medications. If you have any questions, talk to your pharmacist or doctor about it. Talk to your eye doctor if you wear contacts and develop vision problems while using this medication. You may also notice darker patches on your face while taking Yasmin. This condition is made worse by exposure to the sun, so limit your time outdoors and under sunlamps. You can still catch and pass sexually transmitted diseases while taking birth control pills. If you believe you are pregnant, stop taking Yasmin and talk to your doctor. Pregnant women should not take Yasmin. The medication is know to be excreted in breast milk, so nursing mothers should not talk to their doctor about using this drug while breast feeding. Taking Yasmin can increase your potassium levels. Because of this, you should not combine Yasmin with an ACE inhibitor; a potassium supplement; an angiotensin II receptor antagonist; a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID); potassium-sparing diuretic; or heparin. Your doctor can tell you if Yasmin is safe for you.  The prescription Triphasil contains a combination of progesterone and ethinyl estradiol. These two hormones work in women to cause ovulation and conception. The medication prevents pregnancy. |

When taking Yasmin, if you forget to take one yellow pill, take it as soon as you realize. Take the next scheduled dose at its regular time. You may take more than one dose in a day with this plan. If you have forgotten two yellow pills during week one or two, take the two pills as soon as you remember, or take three pills at your next regularly scheduled time. Itís important to contact your doctor if you have persistent or recurrent abnormal vaginal bleeding, dizziness or fainting, difficulty wearing contact lenses, a missed menstrual period, headache, or swelling of fingers or ankles. Seek emergency care if you have calf/leg pain or swelling, numbness of an arm or leg, chest pain, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, lumps in the breast, sudden severe headache, sharp or crushing chest pain, trouble breathing or shortness of breath, sudden shortness of breath, yellowing skin or eyes, changes in vision, or severe stomach pain. Yasmin should be stored at room temperature. Keep it away from moisture and sunlight, and out of the reach of children.
